Catalog

One list of every service and material you sell, with SKUs, prices, costs and margins.

The Catalog is your price list. Every line on a quote, job or invoice is a catalog item, so keeping it up to date makes quoting fast and keeps prices consistent across your team.

What's in a catalog item

FieldNotes
NameWhat the client sees, such as "Panel upgrade labour".
SKUYour code for the item. Leave it blank and Fylder assigns one: SVC-0001 for services, MAT-0001 for materials. SKUs are unique within your company, and capital and small letters count as the same.
TypeService / labour, or Material / product.
CategoryFor grouping and filtering, such as Wire, Labour or Panels.
UnitWhat one quantity means: each, hour, day, ft, m, roll, box, job, visit or lot. You can type your own.
Sell priceWhat you charge for one unit.
Your costWhat one unit costs you. Optional, but needed for margins.
DescriptionShown under the name on quotes and invoices.

Add an item

Select Add item on the Catalog page and fill in the fields. You can also add items while writing a quote, job or invoice: type a name that isn't in the catalog and choose Add a new catalog item.

Find items

Search by SKU, name or category, and filter by type and category. The list is sorted by category, then by name, with numbers in number order (so 6/3 comes before 10/2).

Margins

When an item has both a price and a cost, the catalog shows its margin. Margins under 15% are shown in red so you can spot items that are priced too low.

Track stock for a material

For materials you keep on hand, select Track stock in the Stock column. This links the item to Inventory, where you set how it's counted (by roll, foot, metre or unit) and record what you have. The catalog then shows the current stock, in red when it's low.

The catalog and inventory share one record. Change the name, SKU, category, description or cost in either place and the other updates too.

Archive or delete

  • Delete removes an item that has never been used.
  • An item that's on a quote, job or invoice, or has tracked stock, can only be archived, so your history stays correct. Archived items are hidden from the list (tick Show archived to see them) and can't be added to new documents.

Import and export

Bring in a price list from a spreadsheet, or export your catalog as CSV. See Import & export.
