Quotes

Price work with items from your catalog, see your margin, and get the client's approval.

A quote tells the client what you'll do and what it costs. When they approve it, Fylder starts a project for the work.

Write a quote

Select Create → Quote, or Convert to quote on a request.

Choose the client and give the quote a title.

Add line items. Start typing a name or SKU and pick the item from your catalog. Its price, unit and SKU fill in. Change the quantity and, if needed, the price for this quote.

Not in the catalog yet? Choose Add a new catalog item from the list. It's saved to the catalog and added to the quote in one go.

Set the tax rate, a valid until date, and a client message if you want to explain the work or your terms.

Save the quote. It starts as a draft.

Cost and margin

If your catalog items have a cost, the quote shows your total cost and margin as you build it. Lines without a cost are left out of the margin, so it isn't overstated.

Prices on old quotes don't change

Each line keeps a copy of the item's SKU, name, unit, price and cost at the time you added it. Changing the catalog later doesn't change quotes you've already written.

What approval does

Approving a quote (or converting it to a job) always starts a project. The project:

  • is named after the quote and linked to the client
  • starts with the task groups Planning, Rough-in, Finishing and Closeout
  • is linked to the request and quote, and to every visit and invoice made from them

The approved quote's total becomes the project's contract value. See Projects.

Quote tabs

Draft, Awaiting response, Changes requested, Approved, Converted (turned into a job) and Archived.

A quote that has been converted to a job can't be edited. Make changes on the job instead.
