Inventory
Track the materials you keep on hand by the roll, foot, metre or unit, and see what each job used.
Inventory tracks how much of each material you have, where it went, and what it cost. It's built for materials that come in rolls or lengths, like wire, cable, pipe or hose, as well as counted items like boxes and fittings.
Add an inventory item
Either select Track stock on a material in the Catalog, or select New item on the Inventory page. Then fill in:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name, SKU, Category, Description | Shared with the catalog. Leave the SKU blank to assign one. |
| Track by | How crews log this item: Quarter roll, Half roll, Full roll, Foot, Metre, or Each for counted items. |
| Roll length | How long one roll is, in metres or feet. Required when tracking by roll. Optional for feet and metres, where it also shows stock in rolls. |
| Package name | Usually "roll"; could be "spool" or "coil". |
| Show lengths in | Metres or feet. You can also switch on the Inventory page. |
| Reorder when below | Optional. Below this amount, the item shows a low-stock warning. |
| Cost per roll (or per unit) | Optional. Used for stock value and job costs. |
Select Add item.
Example: wire by the quarter roll
14/2 NMD comes in 75 m rolls, and crews use part of a roll at a time. Set Track by to Quarter roll and Roll length to 75 m. Stock then shows as "2¾ rolls" with the length (206.25 m) beside it, and crews log use in quarter-roll steps.
Receive stock
When a delivery arrives, open the item and select Receive stock. Enter the amount and, optionally, a note such as the supplier or PO number.
Count stock
After a stock check, open the item, then ⋯ → Count stock. Enter what's on the shelf and a reason for any difference. Fylder adjusts the stock to match and records the difference in the history.
The Inventory page
- Items, Low stock and Stock value at the top. Select Low stock to see only items below their reorder level.
- Search by name or SKU, and filter by category.
- Switch lengths between m and ft.
- Log use on any row to record use of that item right away.
An item's history
Each item has a full History of every change: Received, Used, Returned and Counted, with who did it, when, the job (if any) and the note.
Stock can go below zero (the item shows a Below zero badge) if crews log more than was recorded. That's a sign to receive the missing delivery or do a count.
Materials on jobs and projects
When crews log materials against a job, the job page lists the materials used and what they cost. On a project, the cost of materials from all of its visits is shown as Materials used.
Who can do what
- Members (crew) can log materials they use and return.
- Owners and admins can add items, receive stock, count stock and change the catalog.
